Insta360 may be preparing for one of the most ambitious expansion periods in the company’s history. After establishing itself as a major name in 360-degree and action cameras, the company is now moving into additional creator-focused categories, including pocket gimbal cameras and interchangeable-lens mirrorless systems.
A recently published roadmap analysis from New Camera outlines several products that could arrive between late 2026 and the end of 2027. Some elements are based on confirmed company statements, while others are predictions drawn from Insta360’s previous release patterns, leaks and industry speculation.

The roadmap analysis predicts that a wider global launch could take place in late 2026.The Luna Pro reportedly combines a 1-inch sensor, Leica-branded imaging technology and support for 8K recording. It is positioned as a compact creator camera for users who want higher image quality without carrying a traditional interchangeable-lens system.
A global version could potentially arrive with creator-focused bundles featuring microphones, filters or other accessories. Pricing outside China has not been announced, although speculation places it somewhere around $549 to $599.
Insta360 Ace Pro 3 Rumored for Late 2026
The next major action camera in the Ace lineup could be the Insta360 Ace Pro 3. Based on previous Ace-series release cycles, New Camera predicts an announcement sometime between October and December 2026.Rumored upgrades include:
- A 1-inch, 50-megapixel sensor
- Leica-tuned image processing
- 8K video recording, possibly at up to 50 frames per second
- Improved low-light performance
- Longer battery life
- A new generation of FlowState stabilization

Two Insta360 Mirrorless Cameras Are in Development
Insta360’s move into mirrorless cameras is the most significant and most firmly supported part of the reported roadmap.CEO Jingkang “JK” Liu has confirmed that the company is developing two interchangeable-lens cameras. One of the designs is expected to use an unconventional form factor rather than following the familiar shape of existing mirrorless cameras.
Insta360’s goal appears to be making interchangeable-lens photography more approachable for people who find conventional cameras complicated. Artificial intelligence could play an important role by simplifying camera settings, focusing, subject tracking, editing or content creation.
Leaks have suggested that at least one model could use a Micro Four Thirds lens mount, but Insta360 has not confirmed the mount, sensor size or lens compatibility. A Micro Four Thirds system would give the company access to an established collection of compact lenses while keeping the camera relatively small.
The company may show an early prototype at the CP+ camera show in February 2027. A commercial release could follow later in 2027, although both the prototype appearance and retail timeline remain tentative.
X-Series Updates May Be More Modest
A completely new flagship 360 camera may not arrive immediately after the X6. Instead, Insta360 could introduce limited editions, accessory bundles or smaller hardware and software updates during 2027.This would give the company time to extend the X6 product cycle while concentrating engineering and marketing resources on newer categories such as mirrorless and pocket gimbal cameras.
A New GO Camera Could Arrive in 2027
Insta360 has historically treated summer as an important launch period for its compact GO cameras. If that pattern continues, the next GO-series model could appear around the middle of 2027.There are currently few credible details about the next generation. Likely priorities could include better image quality, improved battery life, stronger stabilization and new AI-assisted editing features, but those possibilities remain speculative.
What the Roadmap Could Mean for Creators
If the predicted roadmap proves accurate, Insta360 will be positioning itself as far more than a 360-camera company.The Ace Pro 3 would strengthen its presence in the premium action-camera market, while the Luna series targets creators who want stabilized, high-quality video in a compact package. The mirrorless project could take Insta360 into direct competition with established camera brands such as Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Panasonic and OM System.
The company’s biggest opportunity may be software. Insta360 already emphasizes automated reframing, stabilization and simplified editing. Bringing that experience to an interchangeable-lens camera could appeal to smartphone users and video creators who want better image quality without the complexity of a traditional camera system.
